Spartanburg County School District Three extends closure

Students, parents, staff and community members,

As we continue to navigate through uncharted territory, Spartanburg County School District Three is following the governor’s orders and advising all of our students and staff to be prepared to remain closed through the end of April.

We understand this is a difficult time for everyone. However, COVID-19 remains a threat for many of our immuno-compromised children and employees, as well as the elderly in our community. We will continue to provide our students with daily lessons and guidance, as well as providing meals to those who need them in our community.

District Three will continue to provide five days worth of meals (breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack) but will be cutting deliveries back to three days a week. Meals will be delivered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays until this closure ends. You can also pick up meals on these days at Broome High School, Pacolet Elementary School and Cowpens Middle School.

During Spring Break, all buildings will be closed (March 27-April 3).  However, our food prep and delivery folks will continue to provide this service to our families.

Buildings will be open for deliveries, phone calls, parent concerns for April 6-9, April 13-16, April 20-23 and April 27-30, from 9:00 am- 2:00 pm. Teachers will be able to come in and work if needed to prepare lessons. This is subject to change if a shelter in place is required or deemed otherwise necessary to change.

Parent will be able to pick up and drop off materials on April 7, April 9, April 21 and April 23 with morning and late afternoon times.

As of right now, May 1 is scheduled as a teacher/staff workday.

The South Carolina Board of Education has also waived most state testing for Spring 2020, including SCREADY, SCPASS and end-of course examinations.
