West Point Military Academy Summer Leaders Experience (SLE)
West Point Military Academy Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) is a week-long immersion into the academic, military, and social life of a West Point cadet. At SLE, you will explore West Point from all angles, including their high-tech educational facilities, team-building athletic activities, and realistic military training. SLE gives you a taste of the character, determination, commitment to excellence, and leadership required to be a cadet at the U.S. Military Academy (USMA). Approximately 1100 students are selected to attend SLE each summer. Invitations to the seminar are awarded on a competitive basis using the academic, athletic, and extracurricular information provided in the SLE application. Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Student Mentoring Day
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office will host their annual Student Mentoring Day on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. This is an opportunity for high school students to be introduced to various divisions and roles at the Sheriff’s Office. The class is for high school students in Spartanburg County interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Only four students can attend from Broome. You cannot have any discipline issues. Palmetto Girls State
Attention: ALL Junior Females! Broome will send two females to Palmetto Girls’ State during the week of June 11-June 17, 2023, at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. Broome students will attend this leadership camp with other high school females from around the state to learn about government and the political process. Laurens Electric Cooperative, Inc. Washington Youth Tour & Cooperative Youth Summit
Laurens Electric Cooperative, Inc. is offering four students an expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. or Columbia, S.C. this summer. Contest winners will also be eligible to compete for up to $5,000 in college scholarships. High school juniors are eligible for the Washington Youth Tour and high school sophomores are eligible for the Cooperative Youth Summit. SAT scores, GPAs and rank, and other honors are not the primary consideration in selecting winners; character and community involvement are. Barbering Class for the 2023-2024 School Year
Any students currently in the 10th grade that would be interested in signing up for a Barbering class for the 2023-2024 school year should come to Guidance for the application packet. Dual Enrollment Information Session
We will have a Dual Enrollment Information Session on Tuesday, February 7th at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center. This information session is for current 10th and 11th grade students that are interested in taking Dual Enrollment classes for the 2023-2024 school year.

Broome FAFSA Completion Workshop
Broome will have several FAFSA Completion Workshops for SENIORS and their parents in Lab 106 across from Guidance. Workshops are scheduled on February 17th

Universal Technical Institute (UTI)
Universal Technical Institute (UTI) is offering STEM Skilled Trade Conference Events for female high school juniors and seniors
to learn more about the careers available in transportation and other skilled STEM trades. Events include a campus tour, hands-on, project-based training exercises, and a panel discussion featuring employers and successful women in the field. Winthrop University is hosting Spring Open House, Saturday, March 4th from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Spring Open House is for all high school prospective students (seniors, juniors, and sophomores) to provide an in-depth view of academic and campus life at Winthrop University. Spartanburg Community College Accuplacer Test
Spartanburg Community College will be at Broome on Thursday, March 9th, to give the Accuplacer test and to help any seniors needing help with their SCC application. The Accuplacer test is used to determine class placement for classes at Spartanburg Community College. If you are interested in taking the Accuplacer test, Come to Guidance to sign up by Tuesday, March 7th. DEADLINE: MARCH 7, 2023
Limestone University - Women in Technology and Science Symposium (WITS)
Any 10th, 11th, or 12th grade FEMALE student, who has an interest in pursuing a STEM career, is invited to attend Limestone’s Women in Technology and Science symposium (WITS) on Friday, March 24th. The class is limited to 15 female students. If you are interested in attending, come to Guidance for a permission slip or see Mrs. Goode in room 108. PERMISSION SLIPS MUST BE RETURNED TO MRS. Heavy Equipment Operators course at the Master Skills Center
If you are interested in being a Heavy Equipment Operator, Master Skills Center will be offering this course during the 2023-2024 school year for current 9th
grade students. In this program you will learn the fundamentals of heavy machinery typically found on construction job sites, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and more.

Ebenezer Baptist Church HBCU College Fair
Ebenezer Baptist Church is hosting the HBCU College Fair (Historically Black Colleges & Universities) on Saturday March 18, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST
for High School and Middle School students. Recruiters from Historically Black Universities and Colleges and local Technical Colleges will be in attendance to meet and greet students, parents, and counselors from Spartanburg County, to share the information, opportunities, and experiences their college or university provides for students of every race and background. Berry College in Georgia is doubling their enrollment of nursing students and have increased nursing scholarships, funded by a recent $5 million gift. The Call Me MISTER Program
The Call Me MISTER® program at Converse University (acronym for Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models), largely selects teacher candidates from among underserved, socio-economically disadvantaged and educationally at-risk communities. Admission to the Call Me MISTER program at Converse is contingent upon acceptance to Converse University. To apply to the program a teacher candidate must enroll as an education major in one of the following programs: Art Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, Special Education, or Music Education. South Carolina Business Week
South Carolina Business Week will be held on the campus of USC Columbia the week of July 16 - 21, 2023. South Carolina Business Week gives students an inside look at business in action and is designed to educate high school students on entrepreneurship, leadership, and the American free enterprise system. Students must have completed the 10th
, or 12th
grade by June 2023, be currently ranked in the top one-third of their class and possess demonstrated leadership skills in school and community activities. Businesses throughout the state will provide sponsorships to those selected. The only cost to the student will be the $75.00 application fee.
