athleticsOn Saturday, May 12, Broome boys and girls track teams participated in the South Carolina AAA Track and Field State Championships held at Spring Valley High School. The Broome boys team won a silver medal, missing 1st place by a very narrow margin of five points.

Broome's boys 4x100 relay team of Keyshaun Shuler, David Miller, Jaqun Wilkins, and Keyvon Graham captured the gold medal and set a new school record in the event. 

In the individual events, Jaqun Wilkins won gold medals in both the long jump and triple jump and finished 4th in 100 meter run.

Other placements (listed alphabetically) were Keyvon Graham who finished 3rd in the 100 meter run, 3rd in the 400 meter run, and 4th in the 200 meter run; Daniel Hurren (not available for photo) who finished 2nd in the 800 meter run and 8th in the 1600 meter run; and Jarius Jeter who finished 4th in the long jump. 

In a photo finish, Nicole Hall on the girls track team won the silver medal, missing out on the gold by .03 seconds. Evelyn Taylor finished 8th in the 400 hurdles.
