Presentation1Steven “Skip” Frye began coaching track and field in 1983 at Broome High School.  The following year he started the school’s cross county program.  

As a track coach, Frye has won 4 State Championships, 5 Upper-State Championships and 29 Region Championships. In Cross-Country, he has 12 Region Championships, 2 Upper-State Championships and 2 State Championships.  

Most recently, the Boys’ Track Team won its 18th consecutive region championship, having won the region each year since the turn of the 21st century.  

Rodney Graves, Broome High School principal stated, “During my 30+ years in education Skip Frye has to be one of the most respected coaches, athletic directors, mentors, educators and most importantly, class act.  Broome High School is fortunate to have him on our team.  He sets the standard for the rest of us to follow.”

Frye presently serves as the Athletic Director, Boys Track Coach and Boys Cross Country Coach at Broome High School, having coached cross country for 34 seasons and 35 seasons of track and field.  Coach Frye is a South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame member, being inducted in 2010.

The team celebrates the 18th consecutive region championship.
