Black History Program editOn Friday, February 24, Broome High School celebrated Black History Month with the Black History Program held in the gymnasium. Mrs. Cynthia Spears welcomed the honored guests and students, and Jada Goode presented the student message. Kat Clark read an original poem titled “Black.” Jarius Jeter read “I Too Am Learning,” an original poem by Reggie Gray. Cameron Adams, Bessie Reid, and RJ Steadman presented a Moment of History segment focusing on the contributions of African Americans. Aniya Byrd, Hope Burris, Mica Carnell, Mackenzie Fowler, Mya Hill, Ryemisha Holmes, Amy Leon, Jamia Lindsay and Angel Martin performed an African dance routine choreographed by Cathy Jager. One of the highlights of the program was the performance by A Sign of the Times of the Carolinas, who also performed at the Chapman Cultural Center on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The program was coordinated by Tammy Hodges, Carolyn Shears, Cynthia Spears, Charmell Teasley, and Cloye Woods.
