Veterans Day 2016

Veterans Day 2016
Matt Davis, Cowpens Middle School principal and former Broome assistant principal and teacher, was the guest speaker for the program. Recounting his time as a nineteen-year-old United States Marine Corps recruit on Parris Island, Mr. Davis challenged the audience to remember the ten points he learned there that continue to shape his life.
 1. Everybody is the same.  2. Face your fears.  3. Be thankful for what you have.  4. Respect others.  5. There is a hierarchy in life.  6. Your body is stronger than you think.  7. Repetition is a good teacher; find and repeat good habits.  8. Make your parents proud by graduating from high school.  9. Anything worth having, especially your high school diploma, is worth working for.  10. Take responsibility for your actions.
Mr. Davis is a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and the University of South Carolina Upstate the University of South Carolina Columbia.
