Broome Boys Track Excels at State Championship

D'Marco Jackson - State Champion in Discus Event

Broome High School boys track members who qualified for the State AAA Track Meet on Saturday, May 14 represented themselves and Broome exceedingly well. D'Marco Jackson won the state championship in the discus event. The team placed 7th out of 52 schools. Each of those young men placed in the top 8 out of a possible 208 possible entrants.

Dazhon Jackson placed 3rd in the long jump; Tanner Cantrell placed 4th in the high jump and 5th in the pole vault; Daniel Hurren placed 5th in the 1600; and Keyvon Graham placed 5th in the 400.

All of these young men had personal bests at the meet.

Making the AAA All-State team were D’Marco Jackson, Dazhon Jackson, and Daniel Hurren.

Daniel Hurren also set a new Broome School Record in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4 minutes and 28.06 seconds.
