Paws v. Claws Canned Food Drive

Paws V. Claws Food Drive

This year the Broome family collected over 3,100 items for food pantries in our district in the annual Paws v. Claws canned food drive sponsored by the BHS Leadership class. Items went to the “Closet of Grace” in Pacolet, “The Bread Box” at Cowpens First Baptist, and the “Cannon’s Community Food Pantry”. This is the largest amount collected! The top two classes to contribute were Mrs. Kingsland and Mrs. Fox. The BHS Beta Club also contributed a large number of items. Carolina “beat” Clemson in the drive, but the community of D3 is the true winner!!

Veterans Day Observed

Veterans Day
Dr. Antonio D. Smith addressed Broome students at the Veterans Day assembly.

On Wednesday, November 11, Broome High School observed Veterans Day with a poignant program led by the AF JROTC, the Royal Regiment Band, and the Broome High School Singers.

The speaker for the program was Dr. Antonio D. Smith, a Marine Corps veteran. Paying special tribute to his mother, Dr. Smith spoke of his life's journeys that led him from high school in Horry County to the United States Marine Corps. After his last tour of duty as a drill instructor, Dr. Smith fulfilled one of his mother's dreams for him by earning the first of many college degrees.  Currently, he is pursuing his second doctorate.

Dr. Smith encouraged those in attendance to work hard to achieve and to overcome any obstacles they may face.
